Adele’s sixth studio album, 25, released earlier this year, has smashed records. Billboard reports that 25 was the fastest-selling album in both the United States and United Kingdom. The advance sales of her new record were 27 times bigger than either Taylor Swift’s 1989 or Beyoncé’s Lemonade. Taylor Swift’s 1989, released in 2014, took 102 days between its first copies being printed and the first week of release. The total number of copies sold for the week ending May 29 was 1.38 million units in the U.S. and 464,000 in the U.K.
Adele’s video for the album’s title track, “Hello,” has notched 127 million views on YouTube. The album has reached No. 1 in 37 countries.
