Strictly Come Dancing 2017: The perfect starts

Strictly Come Dancing returns to screens tonight on BBC One, with the debut of our 7th Series. Some of the UK’s favourite sports stars have jumped on board with only a couple of weeks to go before the first dance performance starts with Joanne Clifton & Kevin Clifton.

The famous dance floor turned into the dance studio for us last weekend as we had to bring in some of the great sports personalities from around the UK and around the world for this new series. And not just any sportscasters either, but also some of the best news anchors, hosts and sports stars that have hit the ballroom floor in the past. It’s not just about winning but it’s about shaping up as well – if not a new look, a whole new style – of people that can lift our attention in a way that it hasn’t been before.

The first contestant is none other than Anthony Ogogo who has already proved he can dance before, but now we have elite sports stars like gymnast Max Whitlock and ice-skater Jayne Torvill. Anne Widdecombe made a return to the big ballroom after being runner-up in the last series, though she will only be able to compete in the first week.

It’s been some twelve months since series 6 came to a close – so we’re all hoping for a little more glamour. With the help of the choreographers we don’t want to disappoint or disappoint the audience – so don’t let your eyes glaze over when you find yourself stuck on the dreaded letter box!

We won’t be giving away any spoilers of course, but you can help by chatting with us on Facebook, on Twitter and Instagram or by tagging us on Twitter @SaturdayRiot and @RadioSaturdayRiot.
